Gifted and Talented

Gifted and TalentedOn arrival at the academy, Gifted and Talented students are identified through a range of methods including:

 

  • National Curriculum Tests
  • CAT Tests
  • Teacher Assessment
  • Work Sampling
  • Primary School recommendations

 

The top ten percent in every subject area, and with special aptitudes in non-academic areas, are placed on the Gifted and Talented Register and their progress is monitored to ensure they achieve their potential. In addition, the school works with partners including the Young Journalists Academy, The Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln University, Sheffield Hallam University, The British Council, Young Enterprise and ‘Lionheart’ to offer enrichment activities, projects and visits to expand their opportunities and challenge them to achieve their full potential.

 

Recent Gifted and Talented activities included: participating in the E-ACT Games, creating a film treatment for Madam Butterfly, taster days at Lincoln University and Bishop Grosseteste University, forensics workshops, Aimhigher Associates’ mentoring of Y9 students by university undergraduates, National Maths Challenge, Army catering challenge day, documentary filmmaking in conjunction with West Lindsey District Council, language days and construction Enterprise days.
