What is a BTEC in Sport?

A BTEC qualification in Sport will give you both a practical and theoretical qualification that is recognised by both employers and educators. The course will provide opportunities for the practical learning of skills specific to sports, fitness and leadership/coaching.  The course is non-exam based so it is entirely based upon coursework assignments that are spread evenly across the 2 years of study. These options will allow you entry to the BTEC First in Sport Diploma. There are also other opportunities for some students to gain a BTEC certificate throughout core PE in years 10 & 11.

What is required for the course?

To achieve success on the course you must already be interested and enjoying PE. You will be expected to always have your full PE kit for practical lessons and be willing to give 100% in each and every lesson. Those students who achieve the highest levels of attainment are hardworking, can use their own initiative as well as being able to follow instructions. A commitment to attending extra-curricular clubs/practice and/or representing the schools in a given sport would be extremely useful not only to the sporting commitments but to provide relative experiences in sport.
