Attendance

We are working very hard to improve punctuality and attendance throughout the school. Please support us by:

• Insisting that your child attends school each day
• Telephoning school if your child is unable to attend
• Sending a note to verify the reason in writing for our records
• Signing any detention form issued for lateness
• Ensuring that your child makes up any work missed through absence

Attendance Panels

The school works in with students who are showing signs of poor attendance. Parents and students are called in to a meeting at which this is discussed and targets set. A review is done a few weeks later and students who have not improved will continue to be monitored with a possibility of prosecution if attendance is extremely poor. Attendance panels are intended to help and support parents and students who are experiencing difficulties.

Holidays During Term Time

In Years 7, 8 and 9 we will not authorise any request unless a pupil has an attendance of at least 95%. We will also look at their attendance from the previous year. Because of the importance of Years 10 and 11 we will not authorise any request. We would however consider requests from Year 10 after their exams have been completed in July. Again this will be dependant on their attendance level.
