Moreover, our students will develop the capacity to contribute to building a strong and vibrant community.

Student Voice
At the Trent Valley Academy, we fully subscribe to the idea that “children and young people have the right to express their views freely in all matters affecting them” (Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child).
We are building on the established student councils, with young people across all year groups contributing to the development of the Academy.
Students have so far been involved in:
- Proposals for the design of the new building
- The choice of logo and uniform for the Academy
- The process of appointing staff
- A variety of charity fund raising eventsGoverning Body
Future Plans
We are now exploring ways in which we can further involve students in:
- Supporting each other (i.e. via peer counselling and mediation)
- Teaching and learning (i.e. via student researchers,
Governing Body
Our Governing Body comprises Edutrust representatives and various local partners from the public and private sectors. The group provides expertise in business, finance, law, human resource management and further
education. Other Governing Body members include three elected parents, three elected members of staff as well as one Local Authority representative.
Governors are responsible for approving the overall vision and direction of the Academy, including policies regarding behaviour, staffing and teaching and learning. In doing so they work alongside the Principal and other school leaders who have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Academy.
